As we head further into the autumn term and the weather begins to truly reflect the season, we wanted to send a quick, positive reminder about a few essential items and safety steps that help ensure all our students have the best possible learning experience at Leigh Academy Strood.
Your continued support in preparing your children each morning is truly valued, and these small steps make a big difference in their daily routine.
Winter Warmth: Coats and Comfort – With the colder weather upon us, please ensure your child comes to the Academy with an appropriate winter coat. While we encourage outdoor time for fresh air, we want to make sure no student is cold whilst commuting to and from school, at line ups, and during break and lunch times. A warm, waterproof outer layer is highly recommended!
Commuting Safely: Bike Helmets and Visibility – For all students who cycle to and from school, we want to reinforce the importance of wearing a bike helmet on every journey. Safety is our priority and pupils must attend school with a bike helmet each and every day if cycling.
Additionally, as the daylight hours shorten, we strongly advise that pupils commuting home on their bikes wear reflective clothing or reflective strips on their bags and coats. Visibility is crucial for their safety during darker evenings.
Strood Essentials: The Equipped Pencil Case
Being fully equipped for every lesson is a cornerstone of academic success. It saves time, reduces stress, and allows students to focus immediately on the task at hand. This also serves as vital preparation for examinations, where only clear pencil cases are permitted.
Please help your child replenish their equipment and ensure they bring a clear pencil case containing the following minimum requirements with them every day:
- 2 Black Pens
- 2 Red Pens
- 2 Pencils
- 1 Ruler
- 1 Rubber/Eraser
- 1 Scientific Calculator (KS4)
Having these items readily available prevents unnecessary delays and ensures pupils can participate fully in their learning at Leigh Academy Strood.
