Digital Strategy: Empowering Every Learner

At our school, we believe that technology should be a bridge, not a barrier. Our 1-2-1 Chromebook scheme is designed to be the “great equalizer,” ensuring that every student has the same high-quality tools at their fingertips, regardless of their starting point.

By providing every pupil with their own device, we can offer a personalised learning experience. We embrace the idea that accessibility tools are essential for some, but beneficial for all. Whether a student needs support with reading, is learning English as an additional language, or simply wants to focus better, our digital toolkit is there to help.

Our Inclusion Toolkit

Every Chromebook in our school comes equipped with powerful features to help your child succeed:

  • Read&Write for Google Chrome This software is installed on every device. It provides a toolbar of features including text-to-speech (reading words aloud), picture dictionaries, and summary tools. It helps students build confidence with reading and writing independently.

  • Google Translation Tools For our students and families who speak multiple languages, Google Translate is integrated into our workflow. This allows students to access curriculum content in their home language while they build their English proficiency.
  • Google Classroom: Your Digital Hub Every single lesson has a dedicated space on Google Classroom. All resources, worksheets, and presentations are uploaded for every lesson. This means:
  • Students can recap learning at their own pace.
  • Pupils who are absent don’t miss out on the “core” of the lesson.
  • Resources can be enlarged or adapted digitally to suit individual visual needs.

A Note on Headphones

To help students focus and make the most of our audio-to-text tools, pupils are encouraged to use headphones. We ask that these are wired headphones (not Bluetooth), as they provide a more stable connection and do not require charging during the school day.

Our Commitment

Our digital strategy isn’t just about the devices; it’s about making sure every student feels capable and included in every lesson. By removing the “labels” from support tools and making them available to everyone, we create an environment where every child can thrive.
