Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope this letter finds you well. As we approach the time for Year 9 students to select their options for the forthcoming academic year, I wish to take this opportunity to share some thoughts regarding your child’s potential pathways, particularly in relation to GCSE Music.
Over the course of this academic year, your child has shown great dedication and hard work in their music lessons. Their enthusiasm for the subject and ability to engage with musical ideas suggests that they would thrive if they chose to take GCSE Music.
GCSE Music would not only align with your child’s evident capabilities but also offer them an enriching educational experience. The course has the variety of performing, composing and appraising, as well as the chance to express creativity. Students get to explore the process behind writing their own music in a range of different styles. Students also get to develop their instrumental skills through performing in both a group and solo performances. The exam element of the course will allow the students to listen to a wide variety of music, analysing it as they go. Consequently, it fosters a deeper appreciation for the arts, which can prove invaluable in their overall education and personal development.
I encourage you to talk with your child about this option and consider how it might benefit them as they move forward in their education. Choosing subjects they excel in and enjoy can really enhance their learning journey and open up future opportunities.
If you have any questions or would like to chat more about this, please feel free to email me laura.cadd@strood.latrust.org
