Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope this letter finds you well. We are pleased to inform you of an exciting opportunity for our KS4 and KS5 Performing Arts students to attend The Marlowe Theatre on Wednesday 1st April to see Matthew Bourne’s world-renowned production of ‘The Red Shoes’.
We have been very fortunate to secure these tickets as a last-minute offer from the theatre, allowing us to add this fantastic experience to our calendar. This trip is a vital extension of the curriculum, following the professional workshops taking place in school on 30th March with the company itself. Seeing this production is an excellent way for students to observe how performances move from the rehearsal room to the professional stage.
The total cost of the trip is £19.00 per student, which covers the performance ticket and return transportation. We have secured a discounted price on these tickets, which would usually cost significantly more. Due to the timeframe of this offer, payments must be made via ParentPay no later than 1st February.
Please note that places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. To secure your child’s place, you must complete the payment and the attached consent form. If your child is Pupil Premium, we are able to offer financial support to assist with the cost; please contact me directly to discuss this.
On the day of the trip, students will need to return to the school Drama Studio by 4:30 PM to register. Once registered, we will depart the school with an anticipated arrival time at the Marlowe Theatre of 5:30 PM. Upon arrival, students will have the opportunity to explore Canterbury high street with enough time to purchase a meal from the many local vendors. As this event takes place after school hours, we are unable to provide students with a free school meal during the visit; if you have any concerns regarding this, please email me. We will gather to make our way into the theatre at 6:45 PM for the start of the performance. Following the show, we will travel back to the Academy with an estimated arrival time of 10:30 PM.
All students are expected to be in school the next day without exception. Excellence in attendance is a prerequisite for participating in future department trips; failure to attend school on Thursday 2nd April will result in students being unable to participate in future visits.
Thank you for your continued support of the Performing Arts. I understand the current economic climate may cause concerns, and I would like to guarantee that we are working tirelessly to make these invaluable experiences accessible for all. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch at lauren.bassett@strood.latrust.org.uk.
Yours sincerely,
Bassett
