November Mocks: 03.11.25 – 21.11.25

Dear Parents/Carers,

RE: November Mocks: 03.11.25 – 21.11.25

I hope this letter finds you well as we settle into the new academic year. Our Year 11 students are quickly approaching their first crucial set of exams, the November Mock Examinations.

Week 1: In Class Assessment, 03.11.25 – 07.11.25

Week 2: Core Main Hall Exams, 10.11.25 – 14.11.25

Week 3: ADT Practical Exams, 17.11.25 – 21.11.25

These mocks are the first major opportunity this year for students to practice the demands of the GCSE exams. By simulating the real exam environment, they are an invaluable tool for:

  • Identifying Gaps: Pinpointing specific topics or subjects where the student needs focused revision.
  • Building Confidence: Gaining familiarity with the structure and pressure of formal exams.
  • Informing Support: Providing teachers with essential data to tailor instruction and offer targeted intervention sessions before the final summer exams.

Masterclasses and Timetables

Masterclasses are short (30-minute) revision sessions held before morning exams to help students focus on key topics and prime their knowledge. Details of these sessions will be shared alongside the timetable.

Student Exam Timetables will be available on the My Child at School app under “Exam Timetables” from. Room and seat details will be added shortly after. Students will also receive a printed copy in school before half term.

How You Can Help at Home: 5-Stage Revision Strategy

To support your child’s success during this intense period, we encourage you to reinforce the 5-stage revision strategy we are sharing with the students:

  1. Make a Revision Checklist: Help your child list everything they need to study for each subject’s specific papers.
  2. Create a Revision Timetable: Use the official mock calendar to plan what to study each week, ensuring a balanced approach across subjects.
  3. Revise Effectively (Active Recall): Encourage your child to move beyond just reading notes. Flashcards and Mind Maps are great for actively testing knowledge.
  4. Identify Gaps: Self-testing and practice exams are the best way to show where they need more work.
  5. Fill in the Gaps: After reviewing their practice answers, they should use notes to learn what they missed, then test themselves on that specific topic again later.

We recommend using online tools like ‘Brainscape’ or similar flashcard creators to ensure they maximise the use of self-testing and active recall.

Please remember that these mock examinations are primarily a learning opportunity. It’s vital that we focus not only on the outcomes but also on the learning process itself, developing effective study habits and resilience.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the mock examinations or your child’s progress, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school. We are here to support you and your child every step of the way.

Thank you for your continued partnership in your child’s education. Together, we can help them lay a strong foundation for their final exams.

Yours faithfully,

Mr S. Fatania | Assistant Principal
