In our ongoing commitment to Personal Development at Leigh Academy Strood, I am informing you of this module’s topics . Our primary goal is to support the holistic development of young pupils, preparing them for their next steps in education and the outside world.
Personal Development classes, scheduled for Period 1 each day and Wednesday Period 5, adhere to the recommended PSHE/RSE curriculum provided by the PSHE Association. This curriculum is structured around three main themes: Health and Wellbeing, Relationships, and Living in the Wider World.
Throughout Module 2, each year group will follow a distinct scheme of work tailored to their developmental stage:
Period 1 Daily-

- Year 7: Living in the Wider World – Citizenship/Kindness project
- Year 8: Living in the Wider World – Finance/Security/Credit/Debt/Choices
- Year 9: Living in the Wider World – Careers/Skills/Labour Market Information
- Year 10: Living in the Wider World – Finance/Wellbeing/Work experience/Online Safety
- Year 11: Living in the Wider World- Study skills/Metacognition
- Year 12: Skills for Success- Enrichment Programme
- Year 13: Skills for Success- Enrichment Programme
