Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope this letter finds you well and that you are looking forward to the new academic year. We are excited to extend a warm welcome to your child as they embark on their journey at Leigh Academy Strood on Monday, 1st September. This is a significant transition, and we are committed to making it as smooth and enjoyable as possible for every student. The academy gates will open at 8:00 am, and we kindly ask that your child arrives before 8:30 am. It is important that they report to the playground area as this is where our staff will be on hand to assist with their college line-up and ensure they feel supported from the very beginning.
We are delighted to invite you to our ‘Welcome to Leigh Academy Strood’ afternoon on Thursday, 4th September. This event is a wonderful opportunity for you to gain valuable insights into our educational strategies and to become familiar with our academy environment. We will be sharing details about our innovative Chromebook strategy, which plays a pivotal role in our teaching and learning practices. You will also learn how the Google Suite is integrated into our curriculum, enhancing students’ educational experiences and skills.
In addition, we recognise that online safety is a crucial aspect of modern education. During the afternoon, we will provide important information on how to keep your child safe online, equipping you with practical tips and resources to help navigate the digital landscape effectively. Your child’s safety and well-being are paramount, and we aim to foster a supportive environment for both students and parents.
As part of this welcome event, we will also facilitate the distribution of Chromebooks to each student, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary resources to use from Friday, 5th September. To ensure the smooth running of this event, we will be implementing a college by college specific schedule. The allocated times for each college are as follows:
- Victory College: 4:00 pm
- Hercules College: 4:45 pm
- Trafalgar College: 5:30 pm
