Dear Parents and Carers of Year 9 Students,
The Ambition Programme
Leigh Academies Trust is collaborating with The Sevenoaks School, a nationally recognised independent school, to support students across LAT academies with their future university and career aspirations. This initiative, The Ambition Programme, will run from Year 10 to Year 13, offering selected students a range of opportunities, mentorship, and support to aid their future university applications.
We are delighted to announce that Leigh Academy Strood will be participating in The Ambition Programme from the next academic year, with three Year 9 students from our academy being able to enrol.
This four-year programme is provided free of charge and will involve:
- Bespoke mentorship sessions with university undergraduates.
- ‘Meet-up Days’ hosted at The Sevenoaks School and other LAT Academies.
- A three-day residential at The Sevenoaks School during the Easter Holidays
- Opportunities to participate in undergraduate-style research projects in Years 10-12.
Leigh Academy Strood will begin the recruitment process for our Year 9 Ambition Programme cohort from Monday 11th May 2026, with all Year 9 students attending an information assembly. Following this, students wishing to be considered will need to submit an application via a Google Form. Interviews will take place at the academy at the start of module 6.
The three successful students will receive a written confirmation offer of a place on the programme. This letter will contain further details regarding the planned ‘Kick-off’ event in July 2026..
Thank you in advance for your support of your child’s application. Should you have any further questions about The Ambition Programme, please do not hesitate to contact victoria.wrighton@strood.latrust.org.uk .
Yours faithfully,
Jon RIchardson | Principal
