Dear Parents/Carers,
Subject: Overview of the Leigh Academy Strood Careers Programme
At Leigh Academy Strood, we are dedicated to ensuring every student is well-equipped with the knowledge, skills, and aspirations necessary to navigate their future career paths successfully. Our comprehensive Careers Programme is designed to expose students to the full range of opportunities available, helping them make informed choices about their education and employment beyond the academy.
Our programme integrates careers education across all year groups, linking curriculum learning to the world of work. Key components include dedicated careers guidance interviews, exposure to employers through talks and events, and practical workshops on CV writing and interview techniques. Crucially, all students use Unifrog as our central online platform to record their career activities, explore pathways, and research universities and apprenticeships. Practical work experience placements are mandatory in Years 10 and 12 to provide valuable real-world insight. We aim to inspire ambition and ensure every student understands the steps required to achieve their goals.
We understand the importance of transparency and providing you with detailed insight into your child’s career education journey. We have published a comprehensive, year-by-year breakdown of the careers plan, which details the specific activities, experiences, and guidance offered to each year group, ensuring continuity and progression.
You can access the full careers plan, which outlines the programme for each year group, by following this link:

We strongly encourage you to review this document to understand the key milestones and discussions you can have with your child to support their future planning.
Careers Fair Invitation
Finally, we are excited to announce that we will be hosting our annual Careers Fair on March 27th, 2026. This event is a fantastic opportunity for students to meet professionals and explore a variety of career paths. We warmly invite our parents and carers who are also business owners to participate. If you would like to support the event by providing promotional literature about your business/industry or by reserving a stall to speak directly with our students, please contact us immediately to register your interest.
We value your partnership in preparing our students for life after the academy. Should you have any general questions about the careers programme or wish to offer feedback on our provision, please share your comments by emailing michael.williams@strood.latrust.org.uk or sev.emirhan@strood.latrust.org.uk.
Yours faithfully,
Mr M Williams | Assistant Principal responsible for Careers Education
