Year 10 Work Experience

Dear Parents/Carers,

Subject: Year 10 Work Experience – May 2026

I am writing to provide you with essential information regarding the Year 10 Work Experience programme scheduled for Monday, 18th May to Friday, 22nd May 2026. We will officially launch the programme to Year 10 students on Wednesday, 26th November 2025.

To ensure all students experience a fulfilling and beneficial placement that lays the foundation for their future pathways, several key actions must be undertaken.

Securing a Placement: Self-Placement Encouraged

We actively encourage all students to source their own work experience placements. By having ownership over the process, students are more likely to secure a placement that best suits their chosen career field. Our experience shows that employers highly commend students who take the initiative to arrange their own placement, as it demonstrates a high degree of self-management and organisational skills.

Critical Deadline for Self-Placements

In order for our partners at Medway Education Business Partnership (MEBP) to facilitate self-placements and carry out all necessary background checks in a timely manner, the absolute deadline for arranging a self-placement is Friday, 13th February 2026. Self placement information will be shared with MEBP as soon as possible following the form’s return. Please Note: Any self-placement requests received beyond this date cannot be processed due to the time required for essential safety checks.

Required Documents and Support

  • Finding Your Own Placement Guide: Please see this guide  outlining the stages students should follow to arrange self-placements. This information will also be shared with students during form time to allow for discussion and questions.
  • Own Placement Request Form: Students are required to complete this form and hand it to their form tutor. This document provides us with the necessary details about their chosen employer so that all relevant checks can be completed by MEBP. Paper copies of this form will be provided to students to bring home.

Your support in assisting your child with securing the most suitable work experience placement is invaluable, and I thank you in advance for this.

Should you have any queries or comments regarding our work experience or our careers programmes please contact us at the email addresses below.

Yours faithfully,
