Dear Parents/Carers
In our ongoing commitment to Personal Development at Leigh Academy Strood, I am informing you of this module’s topic. Our primary goal is to support the holistic development of young pupils, preparing them for their next steps in education and the outside world.
Personal Development classes, scheduled for Period 1 each day and Wednesday Period 5, adhere to the recommended PSHE/RSE curriculum provided by the PSHE Association. This curriculum is structured around three main themes: Health and Wellbeing, Relationships, and Living in the Wider World.
Throughout Module 3, each year group will follow a distinct scheme of work tailored to their developmental stage:
Period 1 Daily-
- Year 7: Weekly Notices/IT/Current Affairs/Communication/Religious Education/Careers
- Year 8: Weekly Notices/IT/Current Affairs/Communication and Religious Education/Careers
- Year 9: Weekly Notices/IT/Current Affairs/Communication and Religious Education/Careers
- Year 10: Weekly Notices/IT/Current Affairs/Communication and Religious Education/Careers
- Year 11: Weekly Notices/Metacognition/Next steps/Careers/Study Sessions
- Year 12: Weekly Notices/Careers/EPQ/Transferable Skills
- Year 13: Weekly Notices/ Careers/EPQ/Transferable Skills
Wednesday P5-
- Year 7: Health and Wellbeing- Anti-Smoking/Alcohol/Drugs and the Law
- Year 8: Health and Wellbeing – Mental, Physical Health and lifestyles
- Year 9: Health and Wellbeing- Consent, Risk, Peer Pressure and Healthy Lifestyles
- Year 10: Living in the Wider World- High Performance and Healthy Lifestyles
- Year 11: Living in the Wider World- Study skills/Careers/Metacognition
- Year 12: Skills for Success- Enrichment Programme
- Year 13: Skills for Success- Enrichment Programme
